WIP Blog #11
After some minor mishaps, such as struggling with ironing (I know how to iron, I swear! The interfacing just wasn’t sticking the fabric!) and with the sewing machine (again, I’ve never sewn via machine before and not knowing why the thread was bunching in weird places and wasn’t going through the fabric even when I was sewing very slowly), I can definitely say that unless I feel utterly ambitious, I won’t be sewing another costume (at least via sewing machine) any time soon. Hand sewing on the other hand… yeah, that’s my forte.
LATEST PROGRESS:
- 100% —- Wig
- 100% —- Vest
- 100% —- Boots/boot covers
- 100% —- Pants
- 100% —- Charms for the chain
- 100% —- White tuxedo shirt (for under the vest)
- 100% —- Skull for bow tie
- 90% —— Bow tie
- 90% —— Mad hatter hat
- 90% —— Ring
- 75% —— Tea cup and saucer
- 50% —— Jacket
- 0% ——- Chain
What still needs to be done? The bow tie has not been sewn and put together yet. The mad hatter hat needs the frayed ends of the bow to be frayed and attached. Ring needs another coat of color. The tea cup and saucer still need the flowery designs on them. I’m thinking of leaving this to the end or unless I’m taking a break in between sewing and whatnot only because if I don’t have them (I will have them, no worries) for the con, then it’s not a huge point reduction in my mind. The jacket is currently only cut out and pinned. Although the interfacing was just put on today so now I just have to assemble it and sew it. And as for the chain… I don’t have it yet and cannot (and will not) reuse the one I have for Undertaker’s original design.
I’m thinking the next post will have finished products on it. A full body, fully assembled costume! Oh man, I cannot wait for this. Hah, and in “record time” too!
